Our Mission

The Coalition to Protect Workers from Extreme Temperatures is dedicated to expanding protections for workers and leading the country in extreme temperature policy.

​

All workers exposed to extreme temperatures need protections, including construction workers, roofers, landscapers, warehouse employees, and many others. Current laws and regulations in Colorado are inadequate.

  • Physical breaks with varied requirements depending on temperature

  • Strong definitions for heat/cold thresholds

Ensuring Shade and Shelter

  • Shade must be present. or provided, for employees when heat thresholds met

  • Shelter must be present, or provided, for employees when cold thresholds are met

Employee & Employer Training

  • Training for employees on heat/cold related illnesses

  • Specific employer requirements when there is a temperature related illness

  • Acclimatization plans to monitor new workers/workers away for extended period
